April 2008
Still windy, but Baffin Bay conditions are improving. Look for schools of mullet hanging on shallow rocks
2 1/2 to 3 feet of water. Wade fish these areas with Plum, Morning Glory or Root beer Red flake Bass Assassins
rigged on 1/16 oz jig head for Trout and as the water warms up don't be afraid to tie on a Rapala Skitter walk.
If you want to go the extra distance Tide runners are coming though the Land Cut. With your trolling motor ease
down the west edge, throw Live shrimp under a Old Bay Side Paradise Popper for mixed box of Trout, Reds and black Drum.

March 2008
With changing water temperatures and wind directions it has been a ruff first half of the month!
Start off at the mouth of Baffin Bay wade the drop-offs with either Morning Glory or Plum Bass Assassin
rigged on 1/16 oz jig head or a dark colored Corky Devil. Target the areas with mullet activity and work
them slowly!!!!!!! As it starts to warm up look to the Kennedy Shore line for reds in the shallows throw
either Gulp 3" shrimp or Assassins on 1/16 oz jig head. Once the water temperature reaches 70 degrees and
remains there longer than 24 hours look for the Top water bite to turn on.
Winds have been relentless this month. Start out wade fishing Rocky Slough or Yarborough Spoils with Plum,
Morning Glory or Root beer Red flake Bass Assassins rigged on 1/16 oz jig head for Trout and Reds. Or drift
Rocky Slough staying just off the shallow rocks with Live shrimp under a Old Bay Side Paradise Popper for
mixed box of Trout, Reds and black Drum. If the wind is cranking move into the Land Cut and anchor up and
fish the west edge for for some hard fighting Big Drum.

February 2007
Over the last 4 days fishing has been AWESOME. Overcast skies combined with
a little mist equals BIG TROUT.
Baffin Bay is the clearest it has been in a long time. We are targeting rocks
either by wade fishing or drifting throwing Bass Assassins with a 1/16 oz jighead.
Rootbeer/red flake, Morning glory, and Plum seem to be the color of choice. There
has not been many double digit(weight)trout caught but it is just a matter of time.
Fished the Upper Laguna Madre today and did really well on Red Fish and Big Trout.
Throw the same baits tageting pot holes along the King Ranch shoreline, try and stay
away from gin clear water.

July 2006
Work the edge of the ICW from the JFK causeway to Bird Island with Piggy perch
or Croaker 1 1/2 feet under a Texas rattling rig for mixed trout, reds and flounder.
Also work the grass line on the west side of the Land cut with the same method.
Target any irregularities in the grass line.

June 2006
Work the deep grass lines off the King Ranch shoreline and Emmords Hole with croaker
under a Texas rattling rig or a 4" gulp shrimp under a Alameda float for mixed bags
of trout and reds. Work the deep rocks around the mouth of Baffin Bay with croaker
for trout. Also try wading the Tide Guage bar early with soft plastics for trout then
when sun gets high make your way over to the Yarbrough Flats to sight cast for reds.

May 2006
Work the rocks from Rocky Slough down the Kennedy shoreline to the mouth of Baffin Bay.
Early, start out throwing top waters across the tops of the shallow rocks for reds and
trout. As it gets later work out a little deeper with soft plastics. When croaker are
available work these same rocks. Rig your croaker 1 1/2 feet under a Texas rattling rig
for optimum results. Also try drifting the east side of Yarbrough spoils.

April 2006
Work the grass line on the west side of the Land cut for mixed bags of Black drum,
Red fish, and Speckled trout. Start out throwing live shrimp under a Alameda rattle
float drift it just off the grass line. You can also work this same area with soft
plastics with the same results. Also try a 1/4 oz. egg sinker 1 1/2 feet above live
shrimp without the float. Drift Nine Mile hole with soft plastics or live shrimp
under a Alameda float for reds and trout.

March 2006
The time is right to do well on soft plastics and top waters south of Baffin Bay.
Work the shoreline West of the intercoastal waterway south of Baffin Bay for mixed
bags of solid trout and reds. Drift this area with either top waters or plum/chartreuse
Tidal Surge lures or sabine machine Texas trout killers. Also tide runners are making
their way through the Land Cut. Fish the west bank with live shrimp on a carolina rig
for Black and Red drum and soild specks. Good Fishing!

January 2006
The tides continue to be extremely low. Now is the time to get out on the
water and mark structures and under water hazards on your GPS. As for the
fishing If you are looking for Big trout try and key in on muddy bottoms
with scattered grass. Fish these areas slowly and patiently with either
a Limetreuse, American midnight or Pumkinseed/ chartruse Tidal Surge under
a mauler or a suspending type bait like a Crazy Crocker or Catch 2000.
With the lower tides also fish the drop offs of channels adjacent to the flats
to pick up a few reds and trout. If you catch the wind right drift down these
drop offs is the best way to approach these fish.
