December 2005
Fishing what is that? I have been guiding Deer hunts since November.
We are targeting these Pre Rut and Rutting bucks The Rut may vary
depending on how far south and west of San Antonio you are. But for
our area the Rut begins around the Teenths of December(13th- 19th).
Expect the rut to be a little spotty this year due to the lack of rain fall.
This stress is felt by the does and will cause them to come into heat late.
Another point I would like to add is if you are hunting during a full moon do
not neglect to hunt in the middle of the day pay close attention to what the
vector tables are showing to plan accordingly.

November 2005
The King Ranch shoreline has been holding a mix of Drum, Reds, and Trout. Fish the
color change between 4' and 2' of water. Target these fish with a Alameda Rattling
float and live shrimp. Tidal Surge artificial under a mauler will trick a few of these
fish as well.
I stepped out of my normal fishing area for a few days this month and fished the
Aransas Rock Port area. The Red fish and trout bite was solid on the San Jose side
of Mud Island. Alameda float with live shrimp worked well as did gold spoons.

October 2005
Prepare yourself for a ride! Nine Mile hole and the Land cut producing good numbers
of reds and black drum with some mixed over-sized reds mixed in. Alameda float with
live shrimp. Fish the slightly off colored water start up shallow and drift out to the
deeper water. As the water continues to fall out of 9 mile work! the western side of
the land cut if you have no water movement do not stop and waste your time.

September 2005
September was a busy weather month! Corpus Christi residents were under a
mandatory evacuation with Hurricane Rita. For about 24 hours residents did all
that they could to prepare for the worst and get out of town. We got lucky,
but are friends up the coast were dealt a different fate. Are thoughts are with you.
With all the activity in the Gulf, our tides have been higher than normal
helping to refresh the bays. A good number of trout and red fish could be
found from Pita Island down the King Ranch shore line fishing with piggy
perch. As you drift shallow, target the pot holes with a cork 12 to 24 inches
above your piggy perch. Also try a mansfield mauler rigged the same way with a
Pumkinseed/Chartreuse or Limetreuses paddle tail. Schools of redfish are in
the flats just off the Packery Channel; target them with weedless gold spoons.
Good numbers of trout and red fish are being caught on live
shrimp under a cork in the Land Cut.

August 2005
Low tides and elevated winds have produced spotty results in the Laguna Madre
to Baffin Bay. The waters have gone from great daily catches to on and off results.
The King Ranch shoreline on the drop-offs is slower but still a good choice to catch
both Redfish and Trout. Live piggy perch is the bait of choice at this time. Baffin
Bays deeper rocks 6-7' are producing mixed numbers of slot to over-sized Redfish and
Trout on live croaker.
Rocky Slough is still producing good catches of Redfish with
a few good Trout. Yarborough spoils are producing Trout and Redfish on piggy perch
and croaker. The Land Cut has been the best producer with Redfish moving out of the
9 Mile Hole. From low water, the Cut is turned on big time. Excellent Trout action and
Redfish action on croaker and piggy perch.

July 2005
Its a hot one. When the wind was not blowing strong out of the SE it was dead clam.
Baffin Bays Center Reef is producing good numbers of Trout on live croaker when the
wind allowed. On days when winds kicked up we took to the south shoreline rocks where
the water maintained a cleaner appearance and some shelter. This area yielded mixed
numbers of Redfish and Trout on live croaker.
With the lower tides wading the deeper rocks with Pumkinseed/Chartreuse, Morning glory/Chartreuse,
or Tequila/Chartreuse plastics produced numbers of under-sized Trout and the occasional keeper.
The Land Cut is producing good numbers of keeper Trout and Redfish on live croaker along the western edge.
Mid-day try wading the edge of Land Cut with Pumkinseed/Chartruse, Tequila/Chartruse plastics and sight
cast to feeding Redfish and occasional Trout.

June 2005
Baffin Bay wade the drop offs early where the water goes from 2-3' to 3-4' with
Pumkinseed/Chartreuse or Tequila/Chartruse plastics for good numbers of Trout,
but hang on, mixed in with them are some HOGS. Later in the day try drifting deep
rocks with plastics or live croaker.
